Reading through my Development posts is also encouraged considering how much I've added since I first started this blog. My character is a GOD, the FIRST vampire, and very old and powerful. I will not downplay this, but I know rp etiquette. Don't godmod me and I won't godmod you. I'll approach you ooc before anything major comes up..  THREE   . If you can’t afford to wait for a reply, it’s best not to follow me. I am not fast most of the time, and I have other blogs to attend to. I'm also in the middle of a job search which stresses me out to high heaven and ontop of my experiencing severe depression and anxiety, some days I will simply just be out of commission. Please understand and be respectful. If it's been awhile you're free to poke me about a reply or plot, but do not spam me or it's an instant hardblock..  FOUR   . I WILL AUTOBLOCK PERSONAL BLOGS. I will not be shipping with characters under the age of 20-21 for my own comfort. The Embrace is ancient, as old as dirt can get, and looks like an adult at least in his mid twenties. So for my own comfort and that of others, this rule will remain in place..  EIGHT  .
I do take mains and exclusives. Mains more often than exclusives. Exclusivity might only happen if we’re really close OOC and have a certain storyline we wish to keep intact. If I have a main of your character, please don’t hesitate to approach me anyways, mains mean that I focus on them, not that I won’t talk to anyone else!.  NINE  .

HISTORY

─── ⋆ ✰ ⋆ ───.  Disclaimer  . This section will go over some basic lore about Embrace, how Vampires work exactly in his canon, and other details.─── ⋆ ✰ ⋆ ───.  THE BEGINNING.  . Death's true name is Alaric, and he was the third son of Adam and Eve. When Cain killed Abel, and committed the first murder - God and the Devil wanted to make sure that the consequences of doing so were made clear. So they took Alaric and made him into the incarnation of Death, and made him haunt Cain for the years to come. The Devil, always full of tricks, added in more monstrous aspects than God had expected, and so Death ran rampant on Cain and his descendants of many generations, until after some time, his mind reached clarity and he was able to think for himself once more.At this time, there was no other vampire but him, and he kept it this way for a long while. However upon the feeling of loneliness slowly eating at his core, he decided to find a way to make others like him..  THE ANCIENTS.  . The ancients are the first (and seemingly the only) seven people that Death made into vampires. Each one of them are based on a deadly sin, and each one of them were changed for different reasons. You may find more information about the Ancients on a button below..  DEATH'S VOICE.  .
The Embrace can actually speak. He just chooses not to more often than not. If we were to put a term to it, Embrace is selectively mute. He chooses to speak through signs or the shadows instead, ways that don’t require him to use his actual voice or even require him to open his mouth.Death’s Voice is deep, hoarse from lack of use, but surprisingly soft and calming. He occasionally uses his voice to calm those that have died, calming spirits that are acting up, his voice has a special effect that does this. But even then it’s not often he actually does this.Many are already so afraid of death, that he chooses not to speak and make it worse. He has taken an unofficial vow of silence especially ever since Faye and Jonah passed away. Not many have heard his voice, even the ancients can’t claim to have heard it. He only brings it out in special occasions like above, or to those he fully trusts.

.  THE CANDLEROOM  . It is a pocket dimension that only Embrace has access to, unless he invites someone inside. It appears as a door that appears from thin air, a black wooden door with an empty plaque on it.Inside the candle room is candles as far as the eye can see. Some are on small hand held holders, some are on large candle sticks, some are on tables. What the holder is shaped like or what the candle is placed on can say a lot about a person. The type of candle used can also say a lot about the person it belongs to. Some are fancy multicolored candles, while others are simple white candles. It all depends on the person. Also, none of the candles have names on them, But when standing in front of one, Embrace knows exactly who it belongs to. He doesn’t bother memorizing everyone’s names, as that would be a world full of names to remember. But he can gain the information he needs by approaching a candle.The room is pitch black aside from the candle’s glow, so it’s just enough to be able to see well to walk around, but not a blinding light. There’s pathways made to walk around the candle room without having to step over candles, but even the floor looks pitch black.And yes, he even has candles of supernatural beings aswell. They are not except from a lifecycle, ‘immortal’ or not. Possibly the only ones not in his candle room are other gods, but there are holders dedicated to them, just no candle.

.  DEATH'S DOOR.  . This is more a headcanon for the Ancients but - the ancients can summon Death’s Door, aka the door to the candle room. But it requires a lot of energy for them to do so, even being the ones turned by death himself. The only one who can summon death’s door easily is death himself, for him it’s as easy as breathing.Human’s have sought ways to meet with death since the beginning of time. The only one who succeeded in summoning death’s door was Owen - before he was changed into a vampire - and it required many human sacrifices.Death’s Godson can summon death’s door a limited number of times, through a series of letters that Death himself gave to his godson - all he has to do is open the letter and place it on the ground and the door will come out of the shadows nearest to where the placement of the letter is. He gives his godson a total of five letters - but (in his ‘canon’ verse) didn’t use any of them and thus didn’t see the candle room until just before he was about to die.

.  VAMPIRISM.  . Embrace is the first vampire to ever exist, and with that comes some perks that other vampires don’t have. For example, he can walk out in the sunlight. It’s not a pleasant experience, as he is sensitive to the light in a general sense, but he doesn’t burst into flames.He can go long periods without blood, even centuries if needed. Yes, he’ll need it eventually - but being a god as well as the first vampire makes blood more of a choice rather than a necessity. Embrace doesn’t frenzy, he doesn’t go into a blood thirsty rage, he just gets hungry. Thankfully, thanks to his role as Death, he’s never without blood of the dying.As mentioned in his story, it’s not just the blood he takes from others, but their life energy aswell. Thus he only feeds on the dying, for risk of shortening someone’s lifespan on accident. He’s the only vampire who does this, as it’s more because of the fact he’s Death - sucking out people’s life, killing them, comes with the territory of being Death. Life energy is probably something he needs more than blood. Though all vampires are capable of killing through a bite, Embrace is the only one who doesn't need to specifically suck blood to do so.The lower the generation, the more akin to Embrace vampires are. The Ancients are the first generation, and thus anyone changed by them is the second, and so on and so forth. Most modern vampires have no idea that Embrace even exists, or if they do they think it's just an old vampire story and that he's not real. Many old vampires still pay Embrace respect with offerings of different kinds in order to earn a favor from their master..  THE TOME.  .
The tome that he carries not only contains the names of all vampires, but also ancient rituals and magic that his blood is capable of. He keeps these close to him, as he doesn’t want anyone taking advantage of his blood or use the writings for the wrong reasons. Only a few of the original vampires, the ancients, know a fraction of what The Embrace knows.One of the things he never lets anyone see is his real name. It has no actual power of him physically, but emotionally it would cause him to waver should he hear it out loud once again..  NAMES.  . Death goes by a few names. The most common to those who know him are simply 'Death' or 'The Embrace' / just 'Embrace'. When in his human disguises, he often changes names every few centuries. Currently his most common name to say in public would be Orpheus Harper.

THE ANCIENTS

Changed as an experiment and a want for companionship The vampires that sloth has created share a sort of lazy curiosity between them. People who are smart but don’t pursue their full potential. Great athletes that never go professional. etc. They also have the desire not to be alone, and constantly seek out companionship. Out of all the vampires, all the ancients, Sloth is the loneliest, second only to death himself. Even in eachother’s presence, they can’t seem to get the fulfillment they need. Those who have Ren’s blood will never know the true meaning of fulfillment, accomplishment, or how it truly feels not to be lonely.

Pronouns: they/them).  ENVY  .  Claudia Laire The second Ancient to be changed. Changed out of rage and envy Those with Claudia’s blood seek out romances that fail. They fail for a multitude of reasons, and these vampires are furious over it never working out. They do everything they can to get another’s attention, but it fails every time. They change more and more people into vampires in hopes of finding the love they seek, but they’re alone for eternity. This is the feeling Embrace thought of while changing Claudia, he didn’t want her to ever be happy. These vampires are also hardened, vengeful, and don’t like taking no for an answer. They’ll never truly know the meaning of love, even self love, and are envious to others for this.

.  GLUTTONY   . Owen Song. The third ancient. Changed as punishment for a crime against Death himself There are few with Owen’s blood, but those who exist find themselves a walking contradiction. They have an unquestionable hunger for….something. Knowledge, power, food, wealth, you name it. But they’re also extremely paranoid, push away just as much as they gather, and are unable to listen to reason. They think what they do must be the correct path, little can sway them. There’s also a desire to be a hero of some kind, either to themselves or for others - like how Owen was trying to be triumphant over death to help those around him, how Death wanted to save Owen from himself. This can be become twisted, polluted, depending on the path the vampire takes, They might end up the villain who thinks they were the hero all along.

Pronouns: he/him).  WRATH   .  Obsidian Sun The fourth ancient. Changed for power The vampires with Obsidian’s blood are all are working, deadly, and obedient. The ones born from the blood of wrath have a horrible transformation and first few years as a vampire. A thirst they can never quench, a need to tear flesh apart with their own hands, overall just be a downright monster - because that’s how Obsidian was when he changed. He was already a mass murderer, one of the earliest serial killers, so adding actual blood lust on top of that was not a good thing. Obsidian, or ones of his blood, are the reason there are vampire hunters, and the reason the race is considered monstrous.If they can get past being a monster, those of Obsidian’s blood are the type of people who have hard earned loyalty, but stick to you to life if you prove yourself.

Pronouns: he/him).  PRIDE  . Damien Eleazar The fifth Ancient. Changed as a punishment for an outlandish ask of Death to make him immortal, but not specifying how. Those of Pride’s blood find themselves at the end of the punchline, constantly kicked down and having their pride crushed. But this only has them get back up and come back with twice as much force to those who caused the humiliation to begin with. These vampires don’t give up, they don’t back down, and they’ll prove why they don’t need to be full blown monsters in order to make your life miserable. These vampires lack a sense of humor, are cold hearted and blooded, and spread the blood of pride for their own selfish ends.

.  LUST  .  Mira Wade The sixth Ancient. Changed out of amusement. The vampires of Mira’s blood have some unique aspects of them. Mira had no qualms becoming a vampire, and as such those with their blood tend to adjust rather quickly to their new state and seek out ways to turn it into their favor.These vampires are the seducers that most modern fiction makes vampires out to be. They are daredevils, freedom and entertainment seekers. They are the vampires that would out themselves as one of their kind just for a laugh, they see no issues with being a vampire and are rather flamboyant with their presence. They’ll use powers in broad daylight (or moonlight), they’ll suck the blood of some poor fool and leave the body to rot, they don’t care about the consequences to their actions.

Vampire’s with the blood of Greed in their veins have a closer connection to death as a result of Zaro's reason for being changed. They tend to be ones who flock to people who are suicidal, who are sick, who have bad habits that are going to get them killed. They might even see ghosts, or have a strong six sense. And of course, like the sin itself, they are greedy. Like gluttony, this doesn’t exactly mean what some think it means. Sure, it could be for wealth and status, but one can be greedy for many other things. For love, for power, for knowledge, etc. The difference is that unlike the vampires of gluttony - they aren’t twisted, they can see clearly, and they can take what they want without issue. They know they’re the villain, and take pride in that. They are descended from a thief, and can steal lives just as easily as anything else they want.

I'm still happy to rp with them or tell you more about them if you ask!─── ⋆ ✰ ⋆ ───.  HEAD MAID.  . Akane Miura. Vampire. A descendant of one of Ren's handmaidens. She was born human and then transformed by Ren themselves, making her a rather powerful vampire. Akane took on Ren's last name like most of the descendants have up until this point. She works for Embrace out of respect for him and what he has done for her ancestors, but she is also one of the only ones who can stand up to Embrace no matter the subject at hand, and constantly catches him off guard. She's mostly in charge of all of Embrace's Affairs and that of his guests, while the Head Butler deals with all of the other Employees needs.
(FC: Hatsune Miku from Vocaloid / Colorful Stage.Pronouns: she/her). HEAD BUTLER.  . Majesty Harper. Unicorn. One of the last pure Unicorns in the world, he has taken refuge in Death's castle in exchange for servitude. Death gave him his current human appearance, and if he ever wants to return to his true form he must first approach Embrace about it. Though a bit of a nervous wreck, he's good at what he does. He takes care of the other Employees needs, and presentation of the castle in general. He took the last name Harper upon becoming Head Butler, wanting to move on from his rather traumatic past.

.  CAPTAIN OF THE GUARD.  .  Urus Cyprus 1/4 th Giant. Meeting Embrace was a mere happenstance. The giant descendant was a mercenary for hire until given a permanent job by Embrace. Death apparently had known his grandparents, and found Urus himself trustworthy. He won't admit it, but Embrace is the first person to put any kind of trust in him, and thus he'd protect the Keep even if it costs him his life.

Pronouns: he/him, they/them, it/its).  DOCTOR.   . Yuso Roszah Basilisk. Rescued by Death on pure accident, Yuso was convinced that they had a debt to repay, despite Death having no need for someone like him. For awhile he had worked as a Guard, until one fatal battle left the man partially blind. Not completely blind, but blinding him with magic so that his eyes no longer had the power to kill. As there are not many Basilisks in the world, there weren't many readily available that could help heal him, as his kind require a special kind of magic and care. He decided to switch focus after a conversation with death, and became a healer. Though he still retains his instincts of being a guard and generally a monstrous snake, he has grown to have a soft side for those who live at the Keep and treats them to the best of their ability.

Pronouns: he/him, she/her, they/them).  FINANCIAL ADVISOR.   .
Vesper Yamada Human, with no interest in becoming anything supernatural. A human employee of Embrace's publishing company that had gotten 'promoted' to financial advisor for Death himself. This happened after being exposed to the supernatural nature of the publishing company after hours, and given a choice to continue working there or having their memory wiped. They accepted the promotion because they didn't really have anything else going for them. As the financial advisor, Vesper's job is mostly to make sure none of Embrace's companies go under, and are paying the correct amount to Death himself. They're probably one of the most overworked people in the Keep, but Death always personally comes to see them on their shifts to make sure they are okay and get them assistance if needed.

.  HEAD CHEF.  .  Tide Harper. A former Merman. He gave up his true form to Embrace in exchange for shelter. He had been a prince of the sea, but was betrayed by his own people. He never wanted to return to his palace of the sea, so giving up his true form had been an acceptable exchange. He took on the name Harper when he was hired and given permission to, so that he might not be found by others of his kind who walk the earth aswell.

Pronouns: he/him). LEAD HISTORIAN..  The Truth. Beast of the First Kingdom. A creature that is almost as old as Embrace himself. His true form is a lion with Eagle wings. His kind at one point traveled the earth to to speak blasphemies against God and those residing in heaven. Embraced witnessed their march across the world, and came to have conversation with The Truth at some point along the way. After spending eons apart, they found eachother among human society - The Truth having been in a deep sleep and woken up to a completely different world. Embrace offered him a position as historian, so that they could not only catch up on all the history he had missed, but continue keeping records for the future. He accepted and changed his name to 'The Truth' or simply 'Truth'.

Pronouns: they/them, it/its, he/him). GROUNDSKEEPER..  Dagger Harper Werewolf Youth. A young werewolf that was taken in by Tide when he was a child. He had been abandoned by his pack and would have died if Tide had not happened upon the child while running an errand for Embrace. He brought the pup back to the Keep, and with Embrace's permission, raised the pup - whom he named Dagger because he had one with him at the time. He occasionally calls Embrace 'Grandfather', which always makes the old vampire smile. He is one of the few who is trusted to be near Faye's grave and do the groundskeeping around it.

THE TRAGEDY

.  DEATH'S FIRST LOVE.  .  Faye Harper It is said that she asked three beings to be the godfather to her child, as she knew her time was coming. She asked God, The Devil, and Death.She rejected God because 'He gives to the rich, and lets the poor starve,'She rejected the Devil because 'He deceives mankind and leads them astray.' She accepted Death's offer because ' Death is someone who makes everyone equal.'She was moved into the castle after the baptism of her child and helped raise the child along side Death for two years. She had asked for a godfather because she knew she wasn't long for this world, and that her new friend would have to take her life. Embrace married Faye not long before she passed, wanting to make her last moments in life as peaceful as possible, despite what he was.Death keeps her spirit close at all times, not letting her fall back into the cycle of reincarnation. He has a grave for her in his garden which he cares for.(FC: Shuri Von Neuschwanstein from A Stepmother’s Marchen)

.  THE GODSON.  . Jonah Harper The son of Faye Harper, and the godson of Death itself. He never truly knew his mother as she died when he was only two years old. Death made sure that he would always keep her in his thoughts, though.Upon coming of age, Death took him into the woods around the keep and explained his true gift to the godson. If he was willing, Death would make him a famous physician, so he may save people like his mother who had died before her time due to no healer being able to take care of her properly. Upon accepting the offer, Death continued to explain. When Jonah would treat someone that appeared near death, then Death himself would appear. If he showed himself at the sick person's head - then they were to live and could be treated, but if he were to stand at the sick person's feet, then that person belonged to death and would die soon. Jonah was to follow the rule of explaining truthfully to the ill their fate.Jonah deceived death once, using the abilities gained from the entity to heal someone who was supposed to die. Embrace let it slide once, but warned him if it happened again he would face the consequences. Faced with the death of a princess he wished to marry, Jonah deceived Death once more. Embrace allowed Jonah a moment alone with the Princess before taking him away to his Candle room, where all the lives of humanity were displaced on candles.Embrace showed him his own candle, which was about to go out. Jonah begged his godfather to give him more life, to light another candle to replace the one which was about to go out. Embrace however, tricked Jonah in turn - making a 'mistake' while lighting the new candle, and thus his son dropped dead.Death keeps his spirit with his mother. For despite being deceived, he still raised Jonah as his own and wished to be with him and Faye for eternity.(FC: Adult FC is Rayburn Espelindo from I’m Stanning the Prince)

HISTORY

.  Disclaimer  . Godfather death is Fairytale you can easily find by googling the name. It is a Grimm Fairytale that revolves around the concept of trying to cheat death and the consequences therein. My interpretation is inspired by the original fairytale and Identity V’s bloodlines/vampire essence storyline. Such as, death is also the first vampire to ever exist, and being referred to as 'The Embrace'. I use two different FCs for this character, one being Victor from IDV as he is seen in the Embrace skin.Also whether or not the godson is actually dead depends on the verse. At times he is not, or has been reincarnated in some way. Him being dead is the default unless it's a specific verse or otherwise plotted. Feel free to approach me with any ideas you have..  ONCE UPON A TIME  . The world used to be without death, but then he was created - either out of god’s will to punish humankind for some fowl deed, or the devil’s desire to torture the humans that god loved so much, or perhaps a mixture of both. One human was chosen to to become death, chosen to be the first of blood and life sucking beasts. He doesn’t remember much of his human days anymore, after becoming a force of nature, a god himself in his own right.

He sucks the blood of those who are dying, sucking the blood and life straight out of them. But even if he didn’t, as he can’t be everywhere at once, the soul still finds its way to him via his candle room.The room of candles is sort of like a pocket dimension that The Embrace can access at any time. It holds the candles that show the lifespans of humans. Then he carries a tome that has a list of all those who share his blood, of all vampires in the world. He has two worlds to watch after.Per the story, it was a ill young woman who had just given birth that asked him to be the godfather to her child. He agreed, impressed that she would ask death such a thing. And he helped take care of her and the child until her untimely demise, then he raised the child as his own. The child became a famous doctor, who gained power from his godfather, and was able to see someone’s condition and if they were close to death at a simple look over of someone.

However this godson tried to cheat death twice. First for a King, and he got a warning. The second time was for a princess, and Death was furious. He pulled his godson into his candle room, showing his godson how his candle was about to go out, how his life was about to end because he cheated death after his warning. The godson begged him to light a new candle for him so that he would live to marry the princess and become royalty, but through his need for revenge, Death tricked him and had his candle blow out.

His godson dropped dead on the floor of his candle room.He gave his body to the royal family so that he could be buried a hero, one that saved both the king and princess of the nation.There are days he regrets his decision, but then he reminds himself that in death all are equal, and his own godson didn’t deserve special treatment.Death still walks among humans to this day. As do his kindred. While most of them have lost knowledge of the old ways, he will always remember.
